Climate notes for July 14th 2023
We knew summer would be rough. But seeing us hit record catastrophes all over the place has been harrowing. I'm really worried about this. And even more worried about what my children will wind up inheriting.
The strangest conversation I had was with a Spanish colleague who was saying all homes in UK & Ireland need to be retrofitted for survival. Wooden window shutters, tiles on floors, etc. Just to get some semblance of resistant cool to the heat. And another colleague, who is in Spain, has been suffering with intense heat. She has been holding off on using her AC because she doesn't want to see it perform worse as the heat rises through summer. It's fucking grim out there.
